So being in the other end of the equation - Flying CPH-EWR-MSP last week, and flight from CPH-EWR is delayed 40 mins. Land at EWR with 50 mins to clear customs, and security, bus ride, etc to get to the MSP flight.


Get to the MSP gate with t-13ish (-13m 33 seconds as per my gps watch) and find my seat (in paid F) is taken by an upgrade - GA hands me a new BP in Y, even though I am booked in (A).

In my case I didn't bother to fight it at the gate, as the GA was pretty unhappy I was there at t-14, and said I should not be allowed on, and she was making a one time exception. (don't even get me started on how I felt about that comment...) I preferred to get back, not wait for the next flight - which was 5 hrs later.

I did press UA for some compensation - but just wanted to show that it swings both ways on the last seat sometimes, no matter what the web app shows.
