I certainly agree regarding long-hauls from SFO/SJC (although I'd love to see SOME short haul west coast stuff come back that bypasses LAX; I think VX -- which is losing money even with startup advantages in labor costs -- would be a terrible acquisition, even if adding their route network would be great from a selfish perspective.)

I'm not sure that's true for a focus city in Asian, of which one of the TYO airports would make a lot of sense; other folks have said it would weaken the JBV with JL, but as far as I can see, JL should get value from feeding onward traffic into AA just as much as AA currently sees value from feeding onward traffic into JL -- and given the JBV, both make money on either one's TPAC passengers.
