An update on the "promise" of free tickets made by Citi when trying to get me to upgrade, without too many details:
1. Card arrived without any free flight vouchers, so I emailed them asking about them
2. Got a stock response of "that's only with new cards, not for upgraded cards" etc - from the same guy who had promised it in the first place
3. Replied with screenshot of the promise made by the same guy, asking for explanation
4. Over a week went (with an automated response mid-way stating "we need more time to resolve")
5. Got a response with apology and that they'll never do it again, etc - but they can't "accommodate my request"
6. Responded with another email, and also gave an option of crediting PM miles to my account instead
7. Another wait of over a week (with two automated "we need more time" emails), and now they have sent me the vouchers. Oddly the response said they're emailing 2 vouchers, but the email containing the vouchers has 3.
Overall, I had to send a few reasonably-strongly-worded emails. And wait for almost 3 weeks.
The experience of dealing with their support wasn't that great - the guy kept giving inaccurate, inconsistent messages throughout (and they were copy/pasted from stock responses). Not sure if Citi is trying to match Indian banks in terms of customer service standards.
But at least they did send the vouchers. And I hope at least 2 of them work!
Now to see which of the major metro routes have base fares below INR 1500...
they should have arrived anyways. these are 'email' codes not voucher in the real sense. and they are dispatched in batches, so they could come early or late. anyways, you're 1500 rs. in the money already with the 3rd voucher now.
