There are many condos and resorts attached to swimming beaches in Kauai but the time of the year for your visit will impact choices. We favor Kauai's north shore and go back most years for a couple of weeks on Tunnel's beach. Although we always rent a home on Tunnels beach, the Colony resort is a reasonable choice. The beach extends for just over 3 miles but in the winter months, the surf makes for dangerous swimming but there are spots where you can venture into the water (but not the surf). In the summer it is just fine.
