There is a software part of Novell that I use on my server and in the program it will Wake my laptop up at a certain time with either a music track playing or a message that says"This is your wakeup call" or "Dinner with Mark in 20 minutes". So when my laptop is connected to my home's WLAN the software is running in the background. It never failed once(:
The drawback to using Novell software is that once you are fully awake and cleared headed you suddenly realize the year isn't 1994 after all.
