There are published surveys of award availability - discussed in many forums across FT - that cite award availability. Flight - forced overnight - flight gets brownie points. AS and AA online will offer some really ludicrous award routings. Instead of PHX-ORD or DFW-ATL, how about PHX-LAX-FAT-DFW-ATL? It didn't appeal to me, either.
