I'm actually staying out on Bath Road at the Holiday Inn, then taking the Eurostar the following day, it was how I got First class with the miles I was given. If I would have booked (direct in to) Brussels, I would have had flown coach.
Without knowing more about your ticket, I don't want to lead you astray, but you should be able to add an LHR-BRU segment on BA in Club Europe (Business) for no extra miles, and certainly no UK APD, if your layover between flights is 23h59m or less.
