I have try hard to understand which program suits me best. Currently I am holding Hilton Gold through Infinite and just Starwood Preferred guest for SPG. For next year, I am thinking to plan properly on which program I should further invest, as most people give me idea that SPG the best but my research showed HHonors the best. Maybe I am wrong.

My travel mainly for leisure, 3-4 times a year and about $5000-$6000 spent. Mostly on South east Asia.

HHonors : Easy to maintain my Gold status every year through base points calculation. Gold never frustrated me in term of upgrading and lounge in any hotel that I have stayed. With generous quarter promo, I can get 200k-250k point total in 1 year. But as I am staying in south east asia, Hilton property are not much compared to SPG. With 200k points, I could redeem merely 6 nights free at category 5 hotel.

SPG : Lets say I spent $6000 in 3-4 hotel yearly, I am still preferred guest. I have to make 10 stay to get Gold, right? As preferred guest, I will get 2 x 6000 = 12000 points. Its just only 1 night free at category 5. The best is, SPG hotel are booming in south east asia.

With my calculation above, am I right that HHonors are better for me or I can make SPG program suitable for me to replace HHonors?
