Suggestions on duplicate MP FF accounts?

Like many of us, my wife has an original CO alpha-numeric account # which converted to the same alpha-numeric MP acct after the CO takeover.

But unlike some, her original MP account had her middle initial listed whereas the old CO acct did not, which I think is what caused the computer to create a new additional alpha-numeric MP associated with her previous numeric MP account post takeover.

In the case of duplicate accounts, its listed on their website to put a request for which account number you would like to keep and request the merge of the accounts. But some of my questions are:

1. Should we update her contact details on the original CO account to now include her middle initial so pretty much everything looks exactly the same? Right now, everything basically is the same, the middle initial is the main 'off'.

2. Is it best to request the merge over the phone with technical support or does/is the mileageplus dept (which is dreaded more than human suffering should be allowed to endure ) required to do this? Or if the request is done via the website submission, does the computer do this automatically?

3. How much of an issue would it be to burn down the one accounts miles to whereas if they screw this up, at least there may be less chance that there is an even bigger mess to clean up?

4. Which leads to the delimma; Her CO Presidential Plus card miles are still being posted to her original CO acct. Her MP card posts to the new new account.
I am assuming once the accounts are made into one, I would have to call Chase to ask that the mileage earning posts to the correct account. We have not called chase in advance to find out if switching the posting avenue could be done yet as once this can of worms gets opened the preference is to have enough backing to avoid as many pitfalls as possible.

5. Any advantage of chooses to try and keep the old CO acct# versus the oldMP/new acct#?

I'm not sure if there's anything else I should be asking?

In case someone hasnt noticed, I dont trust the new CO run airline for diddly squat. They have royally screwed up things enough pre and post takeover that there is not a single thing I trust them to do correctly in any way.

If anyone has done the requested account merge, could you also please share your experience, what steps you took, how the process went, and any barriers you encountered or things to avoid please?

Thanks All!
