Most likely you will be able to check your bags through but you are likely to have to pay excess baggage for the CX leg if they are on separate tickets. Do expect the full excess baggage rate of CX to be applicable if you do this, though, although you may not have to do so.

I would not transit Moscow without a visa for the simple reason that if I end up getting disrupted, the only option would be to sleep at the airport.
