Yes, the French upper class and
haute bourgeoisie speak with a very distinct accent which lengthens certain vowels. Their grammar changes too as they use the polite form of address within the family to show respect to elders and (supposedly) betters. My wife addresses her parents and grandparents as 'vous' which still sounds odd to me after a number of years
