The problem is, a dollar here and a dollar there adds up very quickly over a year. For those of us who travel weekly and get 3 drinks in a SC for each visit...let's do the math: $3 in tips * 2 visits per week * 52 times a year = $312 more I have to spend in the SkyClubs on top of the membership dues.

Why should Delta pass that cost on? We already pay membership, and now (at some clubs) they are asking us to pay more for the perks we already pay for.
The option of not tipping exists, but I really don't recommend that if you want a second drink. Ever. And on subsequent visits, hope the bartender doesn't remember you.
Then again, when you build a good rapport with a bartender, it's a good thing. My favorite one was just replaced by Sodexo because he refused to work for them.
