I'm all for including dates and flight numbers on posts like this. That might help shame DL into supervising its employees better.
As to your original question, why do you want to get status? You apparently are willing and able to pay for F outright, so silver status would get you nothing in those cases. The quality of service in first class will be just as bad or good. And I suspect a silver would not see a high upgrade success on a route like SLC-BWI.
