The power port not working could be an issue with your laptop. I have a 'performance' model Dell laptop that is fairly power hungry. Its 95W power supply will knock out the Delta power outlet every time if the laptop is set to performance mode. Simply unplugging and replugging will reset the outlet's over-current breaker. What I have to do, if I didn't remember to set my laptop to power conservation mode prior to shutdown, is boot it up on battery, set it to power save mode, then plug the power brick in and it's fine.
