This thread is about speculation as to whether ORD-FCO/HEL are returning or not. There is a finite chance that one or both routes will not.
1. The fact that they haven't been loaded this late increases the perception of likelihood that they won't return.
2. The other piece of information is a claim that AA has not at this time made a decision to cancel those routes, and indeed (at this time) plans to resume them. It is acknowledged by all that this source is quite reliable with the caveat that there have been some predictions that haven't panned out (and, again, these failures
may reflect a subsequent change in policy rather than an inaccuracy at the time of posting). Therefore, this information decreases the perception of likelihood that they won't return.
These two pieces of information are not internally inconsistent as it is feasible that AA intends to resume the flights but has not loaded them yet.
The subjective part of how an individual assesses the likelihood of the routes being cancelled is 1) how they assess the reliability of the information, 2) how they weight it and 3) where their threshold of belief (i.e., decision bound) lies.
For some, it is late enough now to have pushed them over the threshold to believe the flights will be cancelled. In my mind, the single fact that the flights haven't loaded yet is not sufficient evidence for me to believe they are cancelled.
The airline's (current) intention is a parameter that most individuals will weight very strongly; therefore, whether
MAH4546's information should have a strong weighting or not depends upon is reliability. I have a fair degree of confidence in the reliability of
MAH4546's information based upon upon historical posts, and so this information has significantly decreased my belief of cancellation. Overall, while I still believe there is a reasonable chance of the routes getting canned, I personally think it is premature to assume that they will.
Now, let me apologize if I came across as trying to make claims on the integrity of one poster
over another, as it was not my intention; and I certainly did not intend to denigrate
jimyvr. Specifically I have simply tried to point out that 1)
MAH4546's post appears to be the only piece of new information in this entire thread beyond the information presented in the OP that the flights have not been loaded; and 2)
MAH4546 has a good track record of providing information on the intention of the airline before it is publicly available, which subsequently turns out to be accurate. Therefore, this new information should not be dismissed. Presumably this information was not integrated into
jimyvr speculation. I would suggest that by integrating the information from both reliable sources the overall context may change in some people's opinions.
