Weird day to day pricing in business class seat availability.

I've been stalking the Air Canada site for flight AC872 which I am taking later this month. I currently have a preferred seat but am keeping my eyes out on the seat availability in business class, for potential last minute upgrade (was a previous post).

However, this post is something odd I noticed as a side thing. Today when I checked for my departure date, the business class seat shows up as $1344 for YYZ-FRA-AMS, the first leg being the upgrade I'm looking at. However, yesterday, the business class cost for this reservation, if I were to buy it full price, was about $1900, and I know before when I checked, it was around the $1300 range.

Is this some sort of weird feeler Air Canada is doing, trying to flush out interest as the departure date (August 16 in my case) gets closer? I know it's not a clue as to what a last minute upgrade will cost when I check in, but I find this fascinating. Anyone know why this odd price cycling is occurring?
