The question in the OP contains a misconception that there's any intention to align the two products. I'm not sure that there is, and IAG may even have expressly said that there is not.
You are correct, these are two different airlines who are owned by the same company. That does of course mean a high level of cooperation. Does anyone know if Air France and KLM have one product, I think they also operate as two different brands and products but are also owned by one company.
