Your mistake is that you need to use the AVIOS on BA metal. There is a secret to doing this. First get a waste basket. Second, light a fire in it. Third, toss in hundreds of dollars for fees and surcharges. And fourth, toss in lots of AVIOS. Now that ought to get you flying!
