Just returned from a 4 night stay at the Venetian. Booked a Bella View Suite at $159 during a Grazie promo. Called ahead of time to connect my PC Plat number to my reservation.
Upon arrival was upgraded to a Rialto suite without asking. Nice upgrade, but honestly, most of the extra space is dead, unusable space.. like a foyer, and a more angled spacious bedroom area. Definitely enough room. Also was given a late checkout for 3pm, no charge. Later on, I inquired about a later checkout (I was on a red eye home) and was offered 6pm for $100 which I took. Other non-elite guests that I was talking to at the pool were offered 12pm for $50, and 2pm for $100.
Rooms and common areas in the Venetian tower are showing their age a bit, could definitely use a face lift. The elevator signage on the 17th floor was missing at least half of the letters. Wireless that is included in the resort fee is AWFUL. Slow, at best. A lot of construction was happening in the casino, and the outside moving walk ways were closed.
I do think it is still one of my favorite spots on the Strip, having stayed at Mandalay Bay, The Hotel, the Bellagio and Mandarin Oriental since the last time I stayed at the Venetian. Mandarin Oriental is still my favorite, but you need to be wanting a non-casino environment to stay there. Venetian is very centrally located, and has a lot to offer without even leaving the grounds.
