re the OP questions - Two issues for me speak strongly against DL:

1) 3-tier award levels make for (much) higher miles to be spent on awards, as lowest level often is not available,

2) double miles required for 1-way awards, as 1-ways price out the same as roundtrip awards

Go AA or US!
