I'd probably agree on the main dining room and bar above pool needing a bit of refurb (never had dinner at the Indian restaurant but Barlen's is nice IMO). Have not used spa but fitness room is fine. General areas around hotel look very nice except perhaps Coral wing. Pools look great. Golf is still fantastic (though they had sand on the greens when I was there, which wasn't ideal). I also visited one of the villas and it looked superb.
I don't know, perhaps I just have different standards

but to me this hotel is still looking quite good. To be fair I probably have a lot less experience with this kind of hotels so that might explain it...
Thanks for sharing your opinion of service at St Géran. Based on the looks and now the service you mention I really don't understand why anyone would want to stay there...
