Judging from the complaints here, I am not sure UA is really any better than US now. On my last few trips on US metals, the check-in agents, GAs, & FAs were all very pleasant to deal with, including the ones at "notorious" PHL. All of my flights have been on time & the seats were more comfortable than the pmCO ones.

If OP wants to stay with *A for the time being (until the merger with AA), US isn't a bad alternative, IMHO.
