Just flew tango yesterday (someone else's fault not mine--I only book H class tickets in Canada

)
"AC does not want to discourage people from taking WestJet."
I agree
Since I don't get status miles flying tango, there is nothing in the 50% miles to encourage me to fly them. I can "buy" miles cheaper than flying on tango. The real benefit of flying any airline for a frequent traveler (other than getting where you want to go) is to build up loyalty points and status. Tango does not offer this.
The only reason I am flying Tango this week is a) someone booked the trip for me and I had no choice (other than Westjet) and b) the Tango flights do count towards the 20 segment 60k bonus (although I am not sure I will really need the tango segments by closing date, but it does give me insurance).
For the rest of the year, there is no incentive to fly Tango compared with CANJET or WESTJET unless schedules are better for a particular destination. Seems that AC is missing at least some travelers on Tango by not offering status miles.
