Can anyone tell me why UA decided to switch the Mileage Plus program to the Continental account number? I flew UA a lot when I lived in Chicago and had memorized that number years ago. Now, I have to memorize a number I used maybe once a year from a nearly dormant Continental account.
Part of the switch to SHARES as the sCO frequent flier systems were built around that platform. No matter what, a lot of people would have had to get used to a different style. If they had gone with Apollo and sUA's frequent flier systems the people used to the sCO-style numbers would have had to "forget" those numbers and learn the sUA-style numbers.
