My flight has live TV
I'm on flight 1996 PHX-BUR and this is one of the 5 aircraft that is testing inflight live TV.
First, there service is $6 and not free or discounted for A-List preferred... lame. Because of the fee and the short flight, I didn't purchase it but I did play the test video to verify my iPad would play the video. The short tst video streamed in high quality with no hiccups in video or audio.
Second, and most disappointingly, the service (I assume) had a HUGE negative affect on the inflight wi-fi. The wi-fi on this flight was the worst I have ever seen. Web pages wouldn't fully load and throughput was abysmal. I wasn't even able to get speedtest.net to give me a reading it was so bad.
So far, I'm not a fan.
I switched top southwest about 2 years ago from US Air because US reduced their flight schedule to many of my regular cities. I love southwest's schedule and frequent flier program, but the technology is the worst. No electronic boarding passes, no TSA Pre-Check and inflight wi-fi that is SO MUCh SLOWER than any other carrier. I wish they would get their act together.
