Plenty of folks are checking into hotels anytime from noon onward -- with a significant percentage between 4pm and 6pm. Well, sir, not me. My work schedule and travel patterns almost always see me getting to my destination hotel well after 8pm and, frequently, closer to midnight.

As a SPG Platinum member since day one, I appreciate that my long time loyalty at certain properties grants me a little bit of priority in the upgrade queue. If not, when I get to the hotel at 11:15pm, you can bet that all of the suite upgrades will be long gone every single time.
