Yet another reason to cough up for GE - or do more flights on UA, which lets first-level elites opt-in to TSAPre (grumble grumble).
The elite checkpoint at ORD, still has a non pre-check lane. There is an express lane for pre-check, and the same switchbacks for F/J/Emerald/ Sapphire/etc. It has been that way since winter. IMO the lines are the same length as it was rare to have both lanes open before pre-check. The other checkpoints also have PA lanes, and often shorter lines (depends on the time of day).
