I need to take a later flight out of GRU, and looking at the price now, the outbound legs have increased by $700 in the one day the hold has been on the itin.

The later GRU flight is on V whereas the earlier one was S, and would be GRU-MIA-SFO missing the JFK leg. (was trying to add a miles into the equation)

Once booked, and I phone AA asking them to change to the later flight, will they reprice the whole itin or just the return leg?

It depends:

  • If the price increase is due to an S-Class Fare being no longer available/applicable, then the increase will apply.

  • However, if the increase is due to S Availability being no longer available on the outbound, you can still keep your already-confirmed S-class space (for the same flights) and add new inbound flights (with S Availability).
