You post is a little confusing, Clear this up... will you:
1. "buy" a seat using the miles and cash option?
or
2. buy an economy seat and upgrade with miles?
If you do option 1 the ticket will not earn miles, so none to "park".
If option B, it is possible, but easier to be done at the gate.
