Another option, if you don't want to spend any money, is to find a friend with that 5K points. Marriott will allow anyone to transfer the needed number of points into your account at the time you are ordering an award. (The T&Cs state this is a "spouse" benefit, but Marriott will actually let any two accounts pool their points this way.)

No cost. They will fax you a form to fill out and sign, then your friend will have to fill out their porton and sign it. After that, just fax it back to Marriott.
