Go for GGL for sure.

Not sure what *A would bring to the table to be honest.

Status brings:
* quicker miles accumulation: (although not that much with *A)
* lounge access: which is of no use if you fly business (which i assume you do given you can have status in multiple alliances - and if you dont then you fly so much that like me you probably want to spend as little time as possible in the airport and hence dont use the lounge anyway)
* evouchers - well i guess thats useful but its 1 upgrade on long haul, one way.

GGL will give you a great hotline, jokers and better recognition than gold. No brainer in my humble opinion.
