Is GGL actually worth it?

After years as SA Gold and now OW Gold, I wonder whether it's worth going for GGL. Since getting Gold late June, I am at 780 TP and have a DME-USA open jaw in 1st planned for October with a few AA Flights booked that tip me over the point where i am requalifying for gold.

I have to book a. Winter break to Thailand and a Birthday break probably South Aisia or Hawaii, which would easily get me to the 3k point, though need to repeat the points haul next year to get GGL. Or I could maintain AC Gold by doing those trips on Singapore and AC/UA.

As new to BAEC, not too sure if it's worth it. I am angling towards retaining Gold on SA rather than pushing for GGL. However if there are real strong reasons to go for GGL I will reconsider. The third option is to go and retain ST Gold, but to be honest other than freebie weekends in Cyprus outa SVO I'm not sure why I bother
