When you say preferred it’s much different than required. Getting or retaining status is actually easy and available to anyone, it’s quite simple…..PAY AND FLY! Many complain about losing status because their company etc. You said you want to keep it by personal flying and you are in YVR so between YVR/SEA you have a ton of opportunities to make this happen. A lot of cheap flights on AC/UA out of YVR to the US and mileage runs can be fun. For under $3K you can go to PEK or MUC, three times and then you are at 30K AP right there, more than half way to the new *G! If you have status you automatically get 500 AP min and UA loves multiple stops, so those short cheap routes are 500 min per pop. I fly between YOW & YVR on AC through the US and I get double the points then if I fly direct and it’s a lot cheaper too! Lots of options, just have to maximize those opportunities
