I fly AF JFK-CDG on average 2-3 times a year.
As a whole, I have the airline to be excellent, in some ways better on TATL than DL.
As written above, you can, of course, hit your bad apples on either carrier.
The AF ground staff at JFK T1 are almost universally very friendly and helpful. I have always had a terrific experience with the flight crews.
I have found the biggest issue with AF is the near constant threat of "industrial action" or strikes, which have threatened to disrupt a number of the flights I have been booked on (although, in three years I have so far dodged the bullet).
I usually fly the A380, either in J or premium voyageur.
Unlike DL's EC, AF's Premium Voyageur is a completely distinct cabin from Y, not simply a section of Y with more legroom and free drinks.
The Premium Voyageur seats are wider than Y seats, have a littler footrest. They might be described a business class lite.
While they are, honestly, quite a step down from J, Premiuem Voyageur can be a good deal if you can get one of the more economical fares.
One of the nice perks of AF's Premium Voyageur, is that you get 150% DL MQM, as well as a 25% RDM bonus.
