In summer 2010, I was staying at a hotel during a family reunion (FWIW, the hotel used real metal keys). I walked up to my aunt's room to knock on the door. A housekeeper offered to let me in to the room. Yikes!
I used to work at a high school, and the janitors would open any door for anybody, no questions asked, and walk away. All it took was "I left my jacket in this classroom."
Way too many people are insistent that "it" will never happen at
their hotel.
