Most Hilton properties in US are very poor (2 or 3 star hotels), but still rates are quite high in NYC. So if you normally travel in Europe and Asia, you'll definitely get a big disappointment in the NYC.
I myself stay over 100 nights per/year at hotels (last year over 60 of them in Hiltons), but if I stay in US, I'll definitely choose Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton or other quality property. Also I almost everytime stay with a kid, but never had a problems in the executive lounges in Hiltons or in other chains.
Did you stay in W-A Collection or Conrad hotels in the US? This should be a solution for one who is used to European Hilton Standard?
