Even though this is a twice a year recurring promo I'm still surprised that it is met with such yawns. To me the normal price of $35 per 1K SPG is a good deal so the sale price of $28/K is an absolute steal in my book. I've been waiting for the sale for awhile now, we have a total of more than a dozen SPG accounts in our extended family and the annual max of 20K will be bought for each of them.
I consider the normal price to be break-even (at least before you consider the opportunity cost and what not...), so I do find the sale price to be advantageous. I don't have any trouble redeeming *p for more than 2.8 spp.
