I received the dreaded "United: A modification has been made to your itinerary. Please contact United Reservations" last night for my first Int'l flight on UA metal in nearly a year (we have been flying almost everyone else!)...an award flight in F from LAX-LHR...Suspecting an error in the system, I called UA only to find that, while they can see my reservation, my seats on the flight are completely gone (no aircraft config change) and all they can offer is a connection through IAD in E- center seats. Well, after nearly six hours on the phone with no less than five supervisors, I finally escalated the issue to corporate sales in Chicago (thanks to our UA sales rep for the assistance)...While they still have no idea what happened to our seats, they finally did the "right" thing and booked us on BA in F...a late arrival in LHR, but acceptable. Our return flight in C had also disappeared, but they were able to book us in C on NZ! (I have confirmed with both BA and NZ that we have seats and that they have been "paid" for)

Considering that this is during the Olympics in London, we are happy with the outcome...but UA is still unsure what happened to my reservation (they promise to let me know)...and that it took nearly seven hours of my time and escalating it to Corp Sales to remedy the situation...it is no wonder that we are booking away from UA!
