To fulfill Delta's obligation for a legal connection, current award pricing on its own flights is irrelevant. They can give it to you at your confirmed 60K redemption.

I wouldn't call it silly, but I would judge it a very low probability of success, especially if any segment of the desired round trip routing weren't available in low band awards at time of call.
