Is 1:17 enough time to connect in IAD? I would think so, it should look like an ordinary domestic-to-domestic connection, and while I might have to switch terminals (I think they replaced those shuttles with an undeground people-mover; I used to fly from IAD all the time but moved away) 1:17 seems to be enough time - IF nothing goes wrong.
If doing DL-AF at IAD, there's no need to change terminals. DL uses the B gates and AF the A gates. It's a bit of a trek, but not too difficult (in particular, no need to re-clear security). That said, the official MCT for DL to AF (domestic to international) at IAD is 90 minutes.
