You don't say what class you are flying in but I'm guessing Y. I would call up AA and request an exit row seat, either 31 B or H. If those are unavailable, try for 41 C or G (row 41 has a couple extra inches of legroom).
Like JALPak has already mentioned, you have access to all the OW lounges in Narita and also the Admiral's Club in LAX.
AA is okay, not as good as JAL service wise but I've never had a bad experience on an AA long haul flight. I'd much rather fly JAL but sometimes schedule and price dictate choices.
