I've had experience with this in the past, and you were right. There are certain dragons who seem to delight in making up rules like this one. If you have the time, I thoroughly recommend asking for a duty manager to come out and enable some on the job upskilling. Having a copy of the relevant rules on a device can also be instructive. Asking for a copy of the customer communcation informing their valued EC members about the new rule or the tightening up can also be fun.

The absence of a premium lounge team trained to know the rules does BA no favours.
