Re the tighter connection, tf it's a valid connection then don't worry about whether your luggage will make the flight. I've been through BKK more times than I can remember, often with tight connections, and have never had a problem. Maybe I've just been lucky, but that's my experience.

In your situation, I would me the final decision based on who I wanted to fly with and the equipment they were operating. Don't forget the 30 minutes massage in the Royal Orchid spa you'll enjoy if you depart BKK in TG business class.
