I moved from Toronto to So Cal. Trust me, Toronto is way more dangerous! When I left, there was a fatal shooting every weekend in Toronto. Especially compared to San Diego and Orange County.
Earthquakes..maybe they will happen in a serious enough magnitude..but not for sure, like ice storms and frostbite are promised year after year.
