That piece is nothing to worry about. It does NOT affect lift as mentioned. It is mostly used to streamline the wing for aerodynamic purposes (no, that does not mean it also affects lift). At worst it would increase fuel burn...but so minutely that it probably can't even be calculated or register on the engine instruments.
