I learned to fly 5 years ago in a Piper Super Cub, made in the 1950's from fabric stretched over a steel tube frame. Only 1 engine. The (only) door can be fully opened during flight, so you can lean out and look down if you want. No life vest, that I recall.

Having survived that, I'll wager that you'd be fine to fly on that 77W again.
