a belated trip report: loved the el san juan. had been in email contact with susan wilkerson (the GM) before arrival, and was upgraded from a basic room in the tower to an Oceanfront Lanai. I'm just a lowly Gold, so this was an awesome upgrade. The free continental breakfast was more than adequate, and a cheese and fruit platter with a personalized note was even delivered to the room one night unannounced. Definitely avoid the garden lanai and casita rooms, but as long as you're not stuck in those, this is a fun and lively property.
