Well, IMHO that was the biggest benefit of paying for EC for FOs and kettles on longer domestic routes. I can't see how anyone would pay $70 for extra legroom and semi-priority boarding.
I assume there is no cost of showing an additional on-demand movie to Delta. (They don't count the number of views and pay fees per showing, correct?) So Delta is banking on people paying for EC and then still buying movies. I see that as being highly unlikely to generate more revenue than keeping it free for EC, as one less paid EC seat is more lost revenue than every other seat paying for a movie.
Interesting that Delta will upgrade elites to FC, where movies are free, but will not give the same elites free movies when they miss the upgrade.
