If you're not elites and are traveling on a cheap coach ticket, you really cannot expect to get exit row or any special seats for free. Purchasing EC is an option for you, but apparently you don't want to do this. So you're lucky to be able to choose aisle or window seats and you're lucky to be able to sit together.

64K and 65K are window seats in the back of the plane, with one behind the other. You are not sitting next to each other in these seats.
