I'd go if special VIP events, such as invitation only receptions, are included in the package. It would also be useful to examine whether they have transportation between hotel and events arranged for you so that you can avoid some of the crowds. Really good tickets might be a treat in themselves, possibly to be seated near celebrities or appear on TV. However, I like the idea of trying to extend the trip, although watch out for the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe Festival dates.

Does the tax bill include the value of the companion's trip too or does he/she get a similar tax bill? Will the friend contribute in kind for the trip?
